Title text: As I post this, I realize it's perilously close to Katherine Read's excellent talk from the last BAHFest London. So, go watch it! |

Explanation
Pakicetus is a genus believed to represent a transition between land mammals and aquatic mammals. The narrator facetiously posits that this evolution was a conscious decision made by a member of Pakicetus, who recused themselves from the ranks of their land-dwelling peers out of shame.
In reality, evolution is mainly the product of natural selection and mutation across millions of years, and thus an individual member of Pakicetus would effectively lack any real agency as to whether or not they evolve to become whales. However, humor can be derived from the sheer absurdity of the proposed scenario.
