Explanation[edit]

Run for your life.png This explanation is either missing or incomplete.

The giant gorilla here is a reference to King Kong, the titular character of a 1933 film, who climbs the Empire State Building (as seen in the comic). In the comic, Ted is implied to have been unaware of King Kong's presence, instead ironically pointing out the sale at Macy's because a 50% off sale as a marketing technique is not unusual, so it would be absurd for someone to make a big deal out of it in public.

Transcript[edit]

[a character is pointing at a sign saying "50% off! Macy's" next to a giant gorilla standing on top of a tall building]
(someone being held by the gorilla): EEE!
Giant Gorilla: RAAHHH!
Ted: Oh my god! Look everyone! A sale at Macy's!
Caption: Ted thought he was being ironic. Then a giant gorilla fell on him.

Votey Transcript[edit]

[Ted is being crushed by the giant gorilla lying on top of him]
Ted: So... Clever...
