Explanation[edit]

The woman grapples with the meaning of her own existence, and prays to God for guidance on how to live in a meaningful way, similar to many other comics. God suggests that she live a life of violent murder, which would give her a clear, fixed purpose, albeit an amoral one. The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who killed seven people in San Francisco in the late 1960s. He was never identified, and is considered "arguably the most famous unsolved murder case in American history".1 He left messages which said he was collecting his victims as slaves for the afterlife, and God confirms that he was apparently right and those people are bound to serve him.

This is an incredibly injust and weird way for the afterlife to work, which causes the woman to question whether God is going for a life of virtue or life of meaning. He implicitly chooses the latter, saying "Read your Bible"—SMBC has repeatedly covered the weird shit God has canonically done, such as the Great Flood and the plight of Job. He then claims in the votey that because serial killers are later punished in hell to balance out their sins, becoming a serial killer is not unethical.
