==Explanation== Carl Sagan was a scientist who liked to point out that all matter we encounter (including our own bodies) is made out of the remnants of dead stars. As stars are hot and dense enough to achieve elemental transsubstantiation through nuclear fusion, a majority of the hydrogen is turned into many other elements, such as the elements necessary for carbon-based life (including obviously carbon). As stars are destroyed, they expel most of their mass into space. Later, some of this mass may gather together and become a rock with a massive size range or a new star, depending on how much of the mass has gathered together and what elements it is made of. This is how the Earth formed, and the still poorly-understood abiogenesis is how life formed from the same elements. This idea of something having been made from something else is saritized by a hypothetical evil counterpart of Sagan into something much less beautiful in the comic, which references both an evil person and a disgusting bodily function. As the human digestive system is not perfect, feces (such as that defecated by the late genocidal methhead tyrant of Germany, Adolf Hitler) still has slight nutritional value (though almost certainly not for humans) and can be added into soil as nutrition for plants, which are then directly eaten by humans or by farm animals, which themselves are eaten by humans. Thus a carbon atom (or an atom of any element necessary for life) has made quite the journey, much like an atom from a star becoming an atom in a human body. (Talk about ass-to-mouth.) The votey is a reference to one of Sagan's quotes: "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." See also [[2010-08-03]], which teaches that cats also produce starstuff feces. See also [[A-funny-universe]], whose title text again references the apple pie quote. See also [[Garden]], which similarly, technically depicts the eating of shit.
